Terms of Service

Effective July 31, 2026

These terms govern your use of Smara — the memory API, MCP server, and developer portal at smara.dev and api.smara.dev — operated by Prajana AI (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or calling the API you agree to them. If you use Smara on behalf of an organization, you represent that you can bind that organization.

The service

Smara stores, consolidates, and retrieves memory for AI agents. It is currently offered as a pre-release service: features may change, and we do not yet offer a service-level agreement. We will make reasonable efforts to preserve stored memory and to give notice before breaking changes, but you should not yet rely on Smara as the only copy of data you cannot afford to lose.

Your account and keys

You are responsible for activity under your account and API keys. Key secrets are shown once and stored only as hashes — keep them in a secret manager, and revoke and reissue immediately if one may have leaked. Do not share portal credentials.

Your data

You own the content your agents write to Smara. You grant us only the rights needed to operate the service — to store, process (including with the model providers named in our Privacy Policy), and return it to you. You are responsible for the content itself: for having the right to store it, including any personal data about your own users, and for the consequences of storing it. We do not train models on your data.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Smara to store or process content that is unlawful, that infringes others’ rights, or that you lack permission to hold. Don’t attempt to breach tenant isolation, probe or overload the service, resell access to the platform as such, or use it to build a service whose primary purpose is to harm others. We may suspend accounts that violate these rules, with notice where practicable.

Memory lifecycle

Forgetting is a feature, not a defect: working memory expires within hours to days, and durable memory decays by design based on importance and usage, as described in our documentation. Expired and deleted memory may be unrecoverable after its retention window. Deliberate deletions you perform are effective immediately and audited.

Disclaimers and liability

Smara is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Prajana AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data; our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (or $100 if you paid nothing). Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes, termination, contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and continued use after that is acceptance. You can stop using Smara and request account deletion at any time. Questions: bharat@prajana.ai.
